So there you are. You’ve had a long day. Your muscles are tired, your neck is stiff, you’ve had more than enough mental stimulation, and your nerves are on edge. You realize you need to unwind, and from past experience, you know that nothing beats soaking in a nice, hot bath. So you plug the tub, turn on the hot water, light a couple candles, and think to yourself – how does it get any better than this?! Well, it’s pretty much an undeniable fact that dissolving a fizzy bath bomb into your bath takes it to a new level. But with CBD bath bombs infused with your favorite essential oils, you level up your bathing experience to a whole new realm of relaxation, rejuvenation, and decadence. Why is this, you ask?

Let’s start with the CBD. When CBD is used topically, it is absorbed into the body by way of the skin. The skin is the body’s largest organ. Complex in its operation, it performs defense, immunity and sensory functions via the epidermis, immune cells, sebaceous glands and sensory nerves. It has a high concentration of cannabinoid receptors, so when CBD is absorbed, it interacts with nearby receptors which activate your endocannabinoid system. Research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) shows that topical CBD application has therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis, pain-related behaviors, and inflammation without evident side-effects.

Essential oils have been used for centuries, if not millennia, for aromatherapeutic benefit. When inhaled, the scent molecules travel through the olfactory nerves into the brain, impacting especially the emotional center of the brain, the amygdala. Plus, they’re also absorbed through the skin. You can also use them to steer the effects you desire, such as using lavender to promote relaxation, citrus scents to uplift your mood, and eucalyptus to ease arthritis pain and respiratory issues. You’ll want to ensure you’re using pure essential oils, so if you’re buying from a grocery store, check the label and if possible, only buy organic.

Combine these oils with Epsom salt and you’ve got yourself a potent remedy! Epsom salt contains magnesium, and adequate magnesium levels are essential for sleep and stress management. Some say it’s better to be absorbed through the skin than through the mouth. Plus it helps with detoxification, which nearly all of us could benefit from.

Many bath bombs on the market contain artificial fragrances and dyes, so it can be difficult to find a clean, healing blend. Wouldn’t it be amazing to make your very own CBD bath bombs so you can enjoy a warm soak in a blend you can trust? Here’s a fun and easy DIY CBD bath bomb recipe for you.

But first, know that CBD products have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended or meant to treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. If you are pregnant or nursing, taking any prescription medications, or are a person under the age of 18, consult with a physician. Also, since the FDA does not regulate CBD, you want to be mindful of where you are buying it from. Be sure your hemp products come from a trusted source that conducts third-party lab testing so you know they’re pure and contain the claimed amount of CBD.

Okay, so here’s how you do it! To prepare, have the following ready:

Large bowl
Small bowl
Bath bomb molds

½ c. baking soda
1 T cornstarch
1 T trupura CBD eucalyptus bath salts or regular Epsom salts
¼ c. citric acid
¼ tsp natural food coloring
1 dropper trupura CBD Hemp Oil Tincture
1 dropper of essential oils
2-4 tsp water
Some dried herbs and flowers

Step 1: Start by mixing the dry ingredients together in the large bowl (except the dried herbs and flowers).

Step 2: Mix in the food coloring (add as much as you’d like to create the color you want).

Step 3: In the small bowl, whisk together the trupura CBD oil, essential oil, and 2 tsp of water until blended well.

Step 4: The citric acid is what causes the bath bombs to fizz when it comes into contact with water. So add the wet ingredients slowly into the large bowl to minimize this effect, and whisk until mixed well. (You may need to add a little more water as you mix.

Step 5: Take your bath bomb molds and place herbs on the bottom of each mold. Spoon the mixture into each mold and press gently to set. You can top with any remaining herbs and flowers.

Step 6: Let them set overnight, and voila. Bath heaven in a bomb! Just add one to your next bath and immerse yourself in the warm, infused water for at least 20 minutes.
